Despite the problems of the warring country, Valbek UA colleagues continue to work intensively on designing, training and planning the further development of the Kiev office.
The situation in Ukraine remains complex. Almost every day, the Russians are attacking not only in the frontline area, but also shelling other parts of Ukraine, including the capital. Most often, the Russians do this at night, so that during the day the population is exhausted and unable to carry out its work effectively.
Unfortunately, although it sounds bad, our colleagues from Kiev are already used to working in stressful conditions and have adapted to them. All of the engineers, including the ones we wrote about in our previous interview , continue to work for Valbek, developing and representing the company in Ukraine. Read what we do in our Kiev office.
Currently, Kiev is actively working on Ukrainian and international projects. In Ukraine, Valbek was involved in the reconstruction of destroyed and damaged bridges in Kherson region after its de-occupation in 2023. It examined the current condition of bridges in the Khmelnytsky and Volyn regions and prepared expert technical reports with recommendations for their further operation. The company’s specialists are also involved in designing construction measures to protect energy infrastructure from missile attacks in the Poltava and Kyiv regions.
During the year, Ukrainian engineers collaborated with colleagues from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Sweden. At present, intensive work is being carried out in Kiev on the modelling of bridges on the D35 and also on the development of bridge design documentation including BIM on the I/27 Zizhelice road. Despite the war conditions, life goes on – and professional life is no exception.
Conferences and training courses for bridge construction experts continue to be held in Ukraine. Valbek UA bridge team tries not to miss these events. On the contrary, it wants to increase its own level of awareness, knowledge and expertise to keep abreast of the main events in the industry.
Recently, colleagues Ing. Oleksiy Galchenko and Ing. Oleksandr Dudarenko successfully presented and received favourable feedback at the III International Scientific and Practical Conference named after P. M. Koval. They dealt with the topic “Current issues of bridge construction and ways to improve it” and the content of their lecture was the use of BIM technologies in bridge design. This topic is just beginning to gain popularity in the Ukrainian infrastructure industry.
In addition, Valbek UA employees regularly participate in online meetings of the “Council of Experts on Bridge Management” and the “Platform for Innovation in Road Transport”, which are moderated and organized by the leading Ukrainian scientific institute in the field of road industry “DerzhdorNDI”.
Speaking of development and self-development, at the beginning of the year, three Valbek UA specialists received the engineer qualification certificate – authorization. Another specialist received his expert certificate and another specialist completed advanced training for his engineer qualification certificate – authorization.
At the same time, we are happy to have the opportunity to participate in BIM seminars and in-house training courses organized by Valbek in Ukraine. Even though most of the seminars are held in Czech, we already understand their content. We prepare our lectures in English and believe they are equally understandable and useful. We thank the Valbek Group management and the whole team for this opportunity and support!
Our colleague Ing. Mikhail Novikov developed several educational lectures on Revit. These are aimed not only at improving skills in working with the software, but also serve to increase the productivity of this work. He has also created additional materials, including videos and assignments, to help students learn the material in more depth.
We focus on interaction between participants and create a learning community for sharing experiences. The goal is not only to impart knowledge, but also to inspire students to use their skills creatively in their professional activities.
Despite the situation in Ukraine, the Valbek branch in Kiev continues to operate actively. In the near future, the management plans to expand the team and further develop our activities in Ukraine.
The plan is also to further increase our contribution to the development and restoration of de-occupied areas and the country as a whole. The team is convinced that immediately after Ukraine’s victory, given the size of the country, there will be plenty of work for designers and builders in Ukraine, in which Valbek Group, as a large European company with vast experience, will find many opportunities for employment.
Looking to the future, Kiev-based Valbek is determined to continue its growth and achieve further success in Ukraine. We remain focused on using modern technology, delivering quality projects and contributing to the development of modern design methods.
